Beeeeautiful!

So it was my (Figgy's) baby cousins 1st birthday this week so I was assigned the task of creating a cool dude cake! Seeing as my cousin is only one, he still has no proper interests apart from shoving things in his mouth and screaming, so coming up with a cake idea was kinda hard! But then, the light bulb illuminated and the bee cake was born!!!!

Aww isn't he cute?! 

Mmmm lemon drizzle. This was the secret inside that would only be revealed once it was cut!

Bee was getting dressed in his stripes.

Black and yellow, black and yellow, ooo yellow and black! (That's a bee movie reference if you didn't get it :D)

These were going to be the wings, but they crumbled while I was holding them, 10 mins before we had to leave...

The caramely stuff burnt and I didn't really like the brown wings, so we went with these...

yaaaaay! 

Surpriseeeee!! Everyone loved the cake and said it was amazing and beeautiful! 

Nothing was left by the end apart from the antennae, mainly because they weren't edible! 

Job done. One happy baby. One happy bee. 

No more naked nails....

 So Figgy and myself both study 3D design at University and so spend our days doing things that take joy in removing our lovely nails straight after we have painted them! (I find this more of a problem as I am so clumsy!) 

But honestly there are chemicals that just take off a beautifully mani 

within seconds. However...... SCHOOL IS OUT FOR SUMMER......... So bearing this in mind........

We funked up our nails big time!

We designed and entered a nail competition at the lovely Concrete and nail polish blog!

A Picture a Day

The Lane and I decided that we needed to do some more drawings, 

so we set ourselves the challenge of doing a drawing a day.

Things didn't turn out so well....  a drawing a day turned into a drawing a week, which turned into a drawing a month... and now it's just no drawing!

The rules: continuous line drawing without looking at the paper and drawing the same thing. 

And these are just some of the ones we managed to do!

It's Official....

When someone who doesn't even like cake asks you to make them a birthday cake.... 

well you know then you've made it big time. 

This week it was our lovely housemates birthday...

Voilá!

She studies English literature so we felt it was only right to make cake books!

We even made up her own fairy tale!

What cake would be complete without a pig reading a book on it?!

For her birthday we had a BBQ on the beach and so we took the cake with us!

It was even pink inside!

So we know Figgy Lane has gone a bit cake crazy recently... 

when I say a bit.... But we just can't help it! 

Our latest creation was for an event at a lovely pub in Brighton called the Mucky Duck and the cake was raffled off to raise money which was pretty exciting!

Are you ready.....

TA-DA!!

We felt it only right to carry on the duck theme so we made some duckie cupcakes to sell too!

We managed to raise £60 from it which was awesome! Also the guy that won it cut it up and shared it between everyone so loads of people got to enjoy it :)

Another cake bites the dust...

So we seem to have gone slightly cake crazy at the moment... you know this is the case when a relative tells you your starting to look like a cake (probably not meant as a compliment.....)

But who cares...
